Phoenix
Aero Club was previously
located at Hoxton
Park Airport (YHOX) in western Sydney, Australia.
Following the closure of Hoxton Park on 15 December
2008, we are now located at Camden
Airport (YSCN),
located 60 km south west of Sydney. Before our new
premises at Camden were completed, we operated
from
temporary premises in the Reg. Thompson Hut at
Camden, kindly provided by Scouts
Australia - Air Activities Centre.

NEWS:
Hoxton
Park Airport CLOSED on 15 December 2008
At
exactly 1700 hrs EDST, security guards moved onto the runway
and painted "Aerodrome Unserviceable" crosses
on the tarmac.
Early
the next morning, in an extraordinary act of senseless destruction,
bulldozers arrived and commenced furrowing of the runway
surface. We are not aware that the new owners have found
a buyer or alternative use for the airport land.
Bankstown
and Camden are now overloaded. A mid-air collision with
fatal results occurred at the Bankstown 2RN reporting point
on
18 December 2008.

MAJOR
Safety Issues -
(1)
Bankstown and Camden are inadequate for Sydney's GA needs
Schoefields
or Hoxton Park Airport must be reopened
(2) There
is NO North-South Runway available to GA in
Sydney Basin
